Basketball Recap: Sutherland's Win Ends Ten-Game Losing Streak at Home

Sutherland's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They snuck past the Brady Eagles with a 56-52 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Sailors as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Sutherland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mason Mortimer out in front who went 9 for 16 on his way to 24 points and four steals. Mortimer is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Holm, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 10 points and six steals.

Sutherland was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

When it comes to explaining why Brady lost, don't look at Brody Telitz. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Telitz a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Mcbride, who posted eight points and three steals.

Sutherland's victory ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-2. As for Brady, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Sutherland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 28-27 loss against Sandhills Valley on the 12th. As for Brady, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-31 defeat against Paxton on the 13th.
