Even though Gholson have not done well against the Cranfills Gap Lions recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Gholson managed a 45-39 win over Cranfills Gap. For Gholson, this counts as revenge for the 60-40 loss Cranfills Gap walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.
Gholson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cayden Thomas, who scored 14 points. Aaron Salinas was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Gholson's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Cranfills Gap, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gholson will challenge Bynum at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bynum will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1592nd, while Gholson is ranked 637th). Cranfills Gap will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Abbott at 7:30 p.m. on December 18th.
