Basketball Recap: Bucklin Piles Up the Points Against Minneola

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Bucklin's strategy against Minneola on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bucklin Red Aces blew the Minneola Wildcats out of the water with a 58-25 final score. With that win, the Red Aces brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.

It was another big night for Emmy Kirk, who went 10 for 18 on her way to 26 points and six steals. The game was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Bowman, who went 7 of 12 en route to 15 points and three steals.

Bucklin was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Minneola only posted four assists.

Despite the loss, Minneola still got an impressive performance from Braegen Shelor, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 16 points and five boards. That was a full 64% of Minneola's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Bucklin pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Minneola, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Bucklin will take on Ashland in a tournament on Monday. Bucklin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season. Minneola has already played their next contest, a 44-18 loss against Meade on the 24th.
