The Bloomington North Cougars will be home for the holidays to greet the Center Grove Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Even though Bloomington North has not done well against Bloomington South recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Bloomington North strolled past Bloomington South with points to spare, taking the game 56-38. The win was just what Bloomington North needed coming off of a 59-38 loss in their prior game.
Bloomington North got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mia Robbennolt out in front who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ava Robbennolt, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Center Grove faced Lawrence North in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The stars were shining brightly for Center Grove in a 65-48 victory over Lawrence North on Saturday. The win was nothing new for Center Grove as they're now sitting on five straight.
Lilly Bischoff was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Wirts, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Bloomington North has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Center Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 12-1.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Bloomington North hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 52.9 points per game. However, it's not like Center Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 59 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
