Ganado is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Refugio is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Ganado Indians will take on the Refugio Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Ganado never let their opponents score. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Skidmore-Tynan 62-0 on the road. Given Ganado's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 418th, while Skidmore-Tynan is ranked 1044th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ganado can attribute much of their success to Logan Bures, who gained 160 total yards and three touchdowns, and Bryce Ullman, who threw for 325 yards and six touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes. Bures was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. Luke Bures was another key contributor, picking up 101 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Refugio was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Kenedy 54-0 at home.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 8-1.
Ganado was taken down by Refugio 53-7 in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Will Ganado have more luck at home instead of on the road?
