The Lovejoy Wildcats lost against the Jonesboro Cardinals back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Lovejoy fell just short of Jonesboro by a score of 50-47. Lovejoy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jonesboro found their leader in underclassman Brianna Mason, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mason has scored all season. Another player making a difference was London Jones, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Lovejoy's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Jonesboro, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lovejoy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Alcovy at 12:00 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Alcovy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday. As for Jonesboro, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Forest Park at 6:00 p.m. Forest Park has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 9.
