Softball Recap: Lipan Wins Going Away Against Santo

Lipan won the last time they faced Santo and things went their way on Friday too. Lipan blew past Santo 11-3. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by eight runs or more this season.

Ella Sharp made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Lipan got a massive performance out of Ryan Atkinson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Atkinson has posted since back in April of 2024. Macy Castillo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Lipan has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 13.4 hits in those games compared to only 3.75 in the others. This is the second loss in a row for Santo and nudges their season record down to 6-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lipan will face off against Graford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lipan will need to watch out since Graford has now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Santo, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Santo Wildcats duke it out with De Leon Bearcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. De Leon has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.33 runs per game on average), something Santo will no doubt try to take advantage of.
