The Warrensburg Burgers will square off against the Corinth Riverhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Warrensburg has four straight victories, Corinth has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Warrensburg had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt North Warren Central on Thursday. The Burgers put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 14-6 win. Considering the Burgers have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kawliga Duell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Warrensburg got a massive performance out of Caleb Remington, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Remington is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ben Holcomb, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Warrensburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Corinth couldn't beat Lake George on Sunday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Riverhawks lost 18-9 to the Lakers.
Sam Tangora and Edward Maguire stepped up to the plate in a big way. Tangora got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Maguire got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Wright, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Warrensburg's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Corinth, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
Corinth's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Warrensburg hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. It's a different story for Corinth, though, as they've only averaged .235. Will they be able to contain Warrensburg's hitters?
Everything went Warrensburg's way against Corinth when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Warrensburg made off with a 9-1 victory. Will the Burgers repeat their success, or do the Riverhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
