The Rock Creek Mustangs will take on the Marysville Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Rock Creek lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Concordia, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 12-1 win on Friday. Considering the Mustangs have won three contests by more than ten runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Marysville entered their tilt with Abilene on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Cowboys by a score of 12-9. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Lindsey Dressman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Grace Turner was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Dressman, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Marysville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in four consecutive games.
Marysville's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Rock Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Rock Creek was able to grind out a solid win over Marysville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 16-11. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
