Baseball Game Preview: Destiny Christian Wildcats vs. Sunrise Christian Academy Buffaloes

For the first time this season, Destiny Christian will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to challenge the Sunrise Christian Academy Buffaloes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Destiny Christian will be strutting in after a victory while Sunrise Christian Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Sunrise Christian Academy will be up against a hot Destiny Christian team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Destiny Christian came out on top against Southwest Covenant by a score of 7-3 on Thursday.

Levi McCutchan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since March 1st. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Destiny Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Racyn Hyden, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Sunrise Christian Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Kansas City East Christian Academy on Thursday, falling 13-2. The Buffaloes have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Sunrise Christian Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lincoln Brown, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Destiny Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Sunrise Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Destiny Christian skirted past Sunrise Christian Academy 5-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Does Destiny Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sunrise Christian Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
