A feisty cat fight will be fought as Klein Collins Tigers challenge Tomball Memorial Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Klein Collins is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
While Klein Collins' win against Klein wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Klein Collins had just enough and edged out Klein 2-1 last Thursday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 28, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Meanwhile, Tomball Memorial got the win against Klein Forest on Friday by a conclusive 8-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Tyler Collins made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Collins was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.
In other pitching news, Mason Flores looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.
Back at the plate, Rilyn Andrews was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Collins Turner, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Tomball Memorial hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Klein Forest struck out 11 times.
The victory got Klein Collins back to even at 8-8-1. As for Tomball Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 14-10-1.
Klein Collins came out on top in a nail-biter against Tomball Memorial in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Does Klein Collins have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tomball Memorial turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
