After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hiland, the Wayne Trace Raiders were happy to have found some success on Friday. They managed a 53-49 victory over Antwerp. That's another feather in the cap for Wayne Trace, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Antwerp lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Landon Brewer, who scored 20 points. Brewer hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Carson Altimus was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Wayne Trace pushed their record up to 13-2 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Antwerp, their loss dropped their record down to 13-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne Trace won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Miller City at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Miller City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 276th, while Wayne Trace is ranked 102nd). As for Antwerp, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Patrick Henry at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th.
