The D.H. Conley Vikings will face off against the Clayton Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are still undefeated (D.H. Conley has four wins , while Clayton has three).
While D.H. Conley's win against Gray's Creek wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Bears 9-7.
Lena Zurface was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Caitlin Mendell, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: D.H. Conley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Clayton made easy work of Felton Grove on Thursday and carried off a 17-1 victory. Fans of the Comets have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Clayton got a massive performance out of Delaney Maynard, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Emily Lynn was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.
Clayton's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for D.H. Conley, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. D.H. Conley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 14.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Clayton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 13.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
D.H. Conley came out on top in a nail-biter against Clayton in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
