There's no place like home for the Polo Panthers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against Wellington-Napoleon by a score of 61-48 on Thursday. This was payback for Polo, who suffered a 68-45 loss the last time these two teams met.
Despite the loss, Wellington-Napoleon still got an impressive performance from Trotter Hughes, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Haden Terrill, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Polo's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Wellington-Napoleon, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-12.
Polo will head out on the road to take on Lawson at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Orrick at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Wellington-Napoleon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
