After flying high against the Blytheville Chickasaws last Tuesday, the East Poinsett County Warriors came back down to earth. East Poinsett County fell 66-57 to Cross County on Monday. East Poinsett County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cross County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why East Poinsett County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kyla Harston. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 28 points and 15 rebounds. Harston scored a full 49.1% of East Poinsett County's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kelly Ashcraft, who scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds.
East Poinsett County's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Cross County, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
East Poinsett County will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Rector at 6:00 p.m. Rector will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings (they are ranked 214th, while East Poinsett County is ranked 83rd). As for Cross County, they will head out on the road to face off against Earle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
