The Clewiston Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Lake Placid Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Clewiston will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
While Clewiston didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Glades Day with a sharp 10-0 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Rocco Mann looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on William Bussott, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Cayson Holman was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Clewiston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glades Day only posted an OBP of .235.
Meanwhile, Lake Placid unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against Discovery, falling 12-6.
Ezekial Daley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those hits marked the first that he got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Andrews, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Clewiston's record now sits at 8-2. As for Lake Placid, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Lake Placid's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Clewiston has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. It's a different story for Lake Placid, though, as they've only averaged .325. Will they be able to contain Clewiston's hitters?
Clewiston couldn't quite get it done against Lake Placid in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-0. Can Clewiston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
