The Paulding County Patriots struggled with assists on Tuesday (the New Manchester Jaguar had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Paulding County took a serious blow against New Manchester, falling 82-42. While losing is never fun, Paulding County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while New Manchester is ranked 33rd).
When it comes to explaining why Paulding County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sara jo Ridings. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexus Wilson, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
New Manchester's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amaya Broadus #23, who scored 19 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Broadus #23 continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Kyara Lawrence was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with two steals.
Paulding County now has a losing record at 12-13. As for New Manchester, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-4.
Paulding County will square off against Newnan at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Newnan is coming into the matchup with six straight losses on the road, meaning Paulding County will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for New Manchester, they and Langston Hughes will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. New Manchester is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
