Sharpsville and Lakeview are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Blue Devils will take on the Sailors at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sharpsville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Sharpsville barely beat Reynolds the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 10-1 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won three games by nine runs or more so far this season.
DOM MALONE and TRAVIS WILDING were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, MALONE pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, WILDING struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. At bat, MALONE got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while WILDING got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs WILDING has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Sharpsville let JARED BISSELL and JOURNEY CORNELIOUS run wild. BISSELL got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI, while CORNELIOUS got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double. That double was CORNELIOUS' first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of DOMINIC TARNOCI, who earned two runs and one stolen base.
Sharpsville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reynolds struck out eight times.
Saegertown hit Lakeview with a 22-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Sailors came up short against the Panthers, falling 23-3.
Lakeview saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddox Meyer, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Sharpsville's record now sits at 6-3. As for Lakeview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
Sharpsville couldn't quite get it done against Lakeview in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
