Sergio Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Zephyrhills Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-6 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Zephyrhills Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Gunner Bingham, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Bingham has posted since back in February. Aidan Dulaski was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Zephyrhills Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .644. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Tenoroc was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 19-4 to Zephyrhills.
Trenton McCain made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Wiggins, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
Zephyrhills Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Tenoroc, their loss dropped their record down to 0-15.
Tenoroc's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Zephyrhills Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Tenoroc, though, as they've been averaging only 2.4 strikeouts. Will Zephyrhills Christian Academy keep running through batters, or will the Titans buck the trend?
Zephyrhills Christian Academy took their victory against Tenoroc when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 21-6 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
