The Maywood Academy Nighthawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Elizabeth by a score of 64-61. Maywood Academy has struggled against Elizabeth recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Several Nighthawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rodrigo Miranda, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 assists. Miranda is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now racked up ten or more in the last eight games he's played. Edinson Castaneda was another key contributor, scoring 24 points along with five rebounds.
Maywood Academy has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season. As for Elizabeth, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.
