The Schaeffer Academy Lions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 51-43 win over Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Schaeffer Academy as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Lillian Morrisey was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Linnea Ekbom, who scored eight points along with two steals and two blocks.
Schaeffer Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Schaeffer Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kingsland at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Kingsland presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Schaeffer Academy in Minnesota (Kingsland is ranked 160th, while Schaeffer Academy is ranked 334th). As for Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons, they will stay at home for another game and welcome United South Central at 2:30 p.m. on January 20th. United South Central is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
