Baseball Recap: Buena Vista Wins Going Away Against Platte Canyon

Buena Vista's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They blew past the Platte Canyon Huskies 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Demons, who have now won six contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Julian Lopez-Olsen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Buena Vista: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-10 otherwise. Lopez-Olsen was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Reed Lundy was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Elio Ynfante was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Buena Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Platte Canyon only posted an OBP of .286.

Buena Vista's record is now 8-11. As for Platte Canyon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Buena Vista will head out to take on Ellicott at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Platte Canyon, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Bishop Machebeuf at 1:00 p.m.
