Rich Township extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-7. They lost 32-19 to the Kankakee Kays. Even if the Raptors couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Khamil Wright and Kasidy Whitaker stepped up to the plate in a big way. Wright went 5-for-6 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Whitaker went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kimora Jackson, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
As for Kankakee, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.
On Kankakee's side, Adleigh Cunningham made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Cunningham has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her seven plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaleah Jackson, who got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with one home run, ten RBI, and four runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Tay'La Tooles was another key player, going 4-for-6 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rich Township will welcome Thornwood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Raptors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunderbirds have averaged an impressive 15.4 runs per game this season. As for Kankakee, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Bloom at 4:30 p.m.
