The Vance Charter Knights entered their tilt with the Roxboro Community Bulldogs with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Vance Charter took down the Bulldogs 61-46 on Tuesday. 61 seems to be a good number for Vance Charter as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Vance Charter was led to victory by Katherine Suther and Alyssa Bullock. Suther scored 24 points along with two steals, while Bullock dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 assists. Bullock is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Caelyn Bunn, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Roxboro Community saw an underclassman step up: Karrie Obie dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Obie is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Katherine-kaey "katie" Mann, who scored nine points along with two blocks.
Vance Charter's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Roxboro Community, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6.
Vance Charter will head out on the road to face off against the Griffins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Oxford Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 508th, while the Knights are ranked 188th). As for Roxboro Community, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m.
