Basketball Recap: Resurrection Catholic's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Resurrection Catholic was riding high fresh off their 59-34 takedown of Salem last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Resurrection Catholic Eagles came up short against the Sacred Heart Crusaders on Friday, falling 61-39. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 77-36 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Resurrection Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Simeon Ballard dropped a double-double on 17 points and 21 rebounds. Ballard is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Judd Burlison, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 16 points.

Even though they lost, Resurrection Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

It was another big night for Raider Williams, who went 14 of 29 en route to 36 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals for Sacred Heart. That makes it three consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Sacred Heart's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Posey, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Resurrection Catholic's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-11. As for Sacred Heart, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-8.

Resurrection Catholic has already played their next contest (against Lumberton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sacred Heart has also has no score uploaded for their next matchup, this one against Enterprise.
