Sean Hussey and Truston Winnett provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Salem. The connection was good for 83 yards, the longest such play in Apollo this season.
Mt. Zion was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, the Braves triumphed over Effingham 26-6.
Charleston's dynamic duo of Hussey and Winnett proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hussey threw for 151 yards and two touchdowns and Winnett had 93 yards receiving. Josh Cazley helped Charleston's passing attack out by catching one ball for 32 yards.
Moskal Paul was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 68 yards on 13 carries as Salem topped Salem. Teammate Matt Hahn added to the ground attack by rushing for 11 yards.
Charleston's Hussey and Winnett have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Apollo in both passing and receiving yards. Hussey has thrown for 1681 yards this season, while Winnett, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 39 catches for 805 yards. Austin Ray from Mt. Zion leads the league in rushing with 1381 yards.
Brian Halsey's team's Cazley needs only three yards against Highland next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Cazley has rushed for 997 yards on 104 carries so far this year.
The Trojans extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Wildcats, 42-7. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
