Oblong extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 3-8. They came up short against the Hutsonville/Palestine Tigers, falling 17-3. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.
Brooke Kintner and Landee Clark did some serious damage despite the final result: Kintner went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, while Clark went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Gracie Russell was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
As for Hutsonville/Palestine, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
On Hutsonville/Palestine's side, Hayden Monan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Monan has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Rilyn Lawhead was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Griffin, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oblong will take on Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.6 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hutsonville/Palestine, they will welcome Grayville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Bison have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
