Weeki Wachee's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joelys Rodriguez, who scored 12 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Clark, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Zion Mcrae was her usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with six rebounds and six steals for The Villages Charter. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Mcrae has scored at least a third of The Villages Charter's points. Another player making a difference was Amiyah Flowers, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Weeki Wachee has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for The Villages Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weeki Wachee will take on Springstead at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Springstead will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. The Villages Charter won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mount Dora Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Mount Dora Christian Academy is ranked 158th, while The Villages Charter is ranked 173rd).
