Tay Evans is perhaps Allen's biggest playmaker on the defensive side of the ball.
On Friday night, he was also made a huge difference on offense.
The 6-foot-3 senior, who stars at linebacker, lined up at quarterback on offense and rushed for two touchdowns to propel
Allen (Texas) to a huge 31-10 victory over
Coppell (Texas).
The victory for Allen,
ranked No. 3 in the Xcellent 25, avenges a loss to No. 9 Coppell in 2012.

That loss came in overtime at Coppell in a tightly fought contest. On Friday, with Allen's $60 million stadium rocking, it seemed like the Eagles were destined for victory.
After taking the lead on a field goal by
Carlos Arochi in the first quarter,
Josh Pettijohn hauled in a
Kyler Murray pass for a 39-yard score. Following two touchdowns from Evans and a field goal for Coppell, the Eagles were up 24-3 at the half.

Coppell's only touchdown came on a 3-yard run by
Gavin McDaniel, younger brother of Notre Dame running back Cam McDaniel, in the fourth quarter to make the score 31-10. That was all that Coppell would get, however, as Allen's defense continued to make big plays in the second half and thwarted the Cowboys' hopes of a comeback.
The defeat comes as a step back for Coppell, which notched a 68-20 victory over Rockwall in its previous outing. The loss ended Coppell's three-game winning streak.
Entering district play next weekend, Allen remains undefeated, with an impressive resume of victories that includes
Carroll (Southlake, Texas),
Cedar Hill (Texas) and now Coppell.
