The Gorham Rams will take on the Bonny Eagle Scots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Gorham's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
Gorham's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Westbrook. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Blue Blazes recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Adyson Hutchins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sawyer VonderHaar, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Gorham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Bonny Eagle didn't have quite enough to beat Marshwood on Wednesday and fell 5-4.
Bella Hanson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits.
On the hitting side, Neveah Hagerman and Leah Storey stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hagerman went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Storey went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Emma Twomey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
Gorham pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Bonny Eagle, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Gorham hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. However, it's not like Bonny Eagle struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Gorham took their victory against Bonny Eagle when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 23-12 score. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
