Basketball Recap: Elkhorn Valley Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

After only 26 points in their last match, Elkhorn Valley made sure to put some points up on the board against Hartington-Newcastle on Tuesday. The Elkhorn Valley Falcons were the clear victor by a 63-41 margin over the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 50-35 back in January.

Elkhorn Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kellyn Ollendick, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Ollendick is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games he's played. Gabriel Mcfarland also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Elkhorn Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Hartington-Newcastle still got an impressive performance from Mason Krause, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 11 points. The dominant performance also gave Krause a new career-high in steals (two). Austin Sudbeck was another key player, putting up ten points.

Elkhorn Valley is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Hartington-Newcastle, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Elkhorn Valley will be taking part in a tournament against West Holt at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in West Holt's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they will take on Lutheran-Northeast in a tournament on Friday. Lutheran-Northeast is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season.
