Basketball Game Preview: Lone Pine Golden Eagles vs. Owens Valley Cubs

Lone Pine has gone 3-0 against Owens Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Lone Pine Golden Eagles will host the Owens Valley Cubs at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lone Pine has five straight wins, Owens Valley has 23 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Wednesday, Lone Pine took their match with ease, bagging an 81-29 victory over Baker. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 24 points or more this season.

Lone Pine's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cristian Duran, who posted 16 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. The contest was Duran's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Guerra, who scored 12 points and four steals.

Duran wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Lone Pine was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now racked up at least 22 assists in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Owens Valley was beaten by Mojave 47-16 last Wednesday.

Lone Pine is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Owens Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.
