Brennen Reichman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on one hit and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 21 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Beatty, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Calli Stutz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Martins Ferry typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday West Muskingum proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by a 20-5 margin over the Purple Riders. Considering the Tornadoes have won ten matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
West Muskingum got a massive performance out of Gabbi Hammer, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Daylee Foster, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple.
West Muskingum kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Tuscarawas Valley's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for West Muskingum, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Tuscarawas Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like West Muskingum struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.4 home runs.
