After a string of four wins, the Sparta Spartans's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 30-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jefferson Township. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sparta has scored all season.
Jefferson Township's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emily Poulas, who scored ten points along with two steals. Cassidy Ball was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Sparta dropped their record down to 7-14 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Jefferson Township, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.
Sparta will head out on the road to face off against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jefferson Township, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. North Warren Regional will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Falcons are ranked 23rd).
