If the Morrill Lions were riding high off their 60-20 takedown of the Hemingford Bobcats last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Morrill was dealt a 65-29 defeat at the hands of Bridgeport on Thursday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Morrill in their matchups with Bridgeport: they've now lost six in a row.
Brooklin Hess and Kinzley Hess certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Hess scored 11 points along with two steals, while Hess scored six points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Hess continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Brooklyn Brown was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.
Morrill struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Bridgeport's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tacey From, who scored nine points along with five assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Loomis-goltl, who scored 19 points.
Morrill has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season. As for Bridgeport, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 21-0.
Morrill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bridgeport, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-36 win vs. Gordon-Rushville on the 9th.
