Booker T. Washington is 0-5 against Montgomery Catholic since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Booker T. Washington Golden Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Montgomery Catholic Knights at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, everything came up roses for Booker T. Washington at home against LAMP as the team secured a 50-19 win. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Booker T. Washington had established a 27 point advantage.
Booker T. Washington can attribute much of their success to Tylizea Sanders, who scored 14 points along with six assists and five steals, and KeAundra Tatum, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tatum has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Za'Dejha Harris-Chandler, who scored two points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Montgomery Catholic walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 60-27 win over the Hornets at home. Montgomery Catholic has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 26 points or more this season.
Hannah Smith continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 15 rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Heaven Bailey was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six steals.
Booker T. Washington now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Montgomery Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season.
Wednesday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Booker T. Washington have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 39.2% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Montgomery Catholic struggles in that department as they've made 37.8% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Booker T. Washington lost to Montgomery Catholic on the road by a decisive 44-27 margin in their previous matchup back in January. Can Booker T. Washington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
