A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Kaufman Lions duke it out with the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday... Kaufman is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season.
Kaufman took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They took down Terrell 52-34. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Tigers are ranked 663rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kaufman's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaylee Wrenn, who posted 15 points in addition to six assists and five steals. Wrenn is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubre Prox, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight boards and six assists.
Wrenn wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Kaufman was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Terrell only posted seven assists.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Midlothian Heritage on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Ennis out of the water with a 50-20 final score. The Jaguars pushed the score to 39-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions had little chance of recovering from.
Kaufman better keep an eye on Ava Batty. She was instrumental in Midlothian Heritage's win, putting up 18 points. With that strong performance, Batty is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Danaya Hicks, who put up eight points.
Kaufman pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Midlothian Heritage, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.
Kaufman might still be hurting after the 59-36 loss they got from Midlothian Heritage when the teams last played back in November of 2017. Thankfully for Kaufman, Jasmine Bailey (who went 6 of 15 on her way to 15 points and six steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
