This week's postseason excitement didn't throw the rankings into complete disarray, but it did reorder the standings a decent amount. Among the games was a one-point thriller between Seventy-First and South View.
Can't Touch This
Seventy-First got a 42 - 41 win over South View last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Kyler Davis. Davis earned three touchdowns and 189 yards rushing the ball. That performance made Davis one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Terry Sanford and Havelock, 29th and 11th in the MaxPreps state rankings, respectively. Terry Sanford came up short against Havelock, falling 47 - 33. As a result, Terry Sanford fell three positions in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
SouthWest Edgecombe and North Davidson went up, up, and away last week as they combined for the highest point total (84) among all power ranked teams. SouthWest Edgecombe suffered a painful 56 - 28 defeat to North Davidson. The loss came about despite SouthWest Edgecombe's dynamic duo of senior Jayden Lewis, who tossed the ball for 51 yards and three TDs, and junior Keishon Porter, who caught passes for three touchdowns on four receptions.
