After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Regis Jesuit, the Chaparral Wolverines were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Castle View by a score of 44-32. Given Chaparral's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Castle View is ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chaparral found their leader in underclassman Lauren Thompson, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and six assists. Thompson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Reagan Lentell was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Chaparral's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Castle View, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chaparral's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Mountain Vista at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Mountain Vista is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Castle View will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Douglas County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
