The Millbrook Wildcats were the 73-64 winner over the Hillside Hornets when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Millbrook was dealt a 81-50 defeat at the hands of Hillside on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Millbrook can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while Hillside is ranked 66th).
Lauren Brown and Ariana Morris certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Brown scored 17 points, while Morris scored 15 points. Morris scored a full 30% of Millbrook's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Graham, who scored 2 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals.
It was another big night for Samiyah Barker, who scored 22 points along with 7 assists and 6 rebounds for Hillside. The contest was Barker's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sa?nya Horton, who scored 15 points.
Millbrook has fallen quite a ways from their 20-8 record last season and are now at 1-4. As for Hillside, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millbrook will stay at home for another game and welcome Broughton at 6:15 p.m. on December 8th. Hillside will take on Cresset Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
