AAA Region 8 recap Nov. 7, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Jackson County, who took down 191st ranked Elbert County, 33-28.
Morgan County moved up to 196 from 226 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AAA Region 8. The Bulldogs were able to make move up by topping Hart County 35-8.
North Oconee's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nick Colvin threw for 118 and one touchdown and Zack Sims had 68 yards receiving. On the ground Kawon Bryant chipped in 236 yards. John Jarrard helped North Oconee's passing attack out by catching one ball for 33 yards.
Jackson County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kyle Daniel has thrown for 1897 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, while Xavier Harper has 50 catches for 828 yards. Dustin Scott leads the league in rushing with 880 yards.
Going into this week's game against Morgan County, the Panthers' Daniel needs 103 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Titans take on the Bulldogs. North Oconee is currently in first, while Hart County is in fourth.
The Titans extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region 8 this week by beating Oconee County, 63-21. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
