Florence is a perfect 10-0 against Globe since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Gophers will welcome the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Florence got the win against Apache Junction by a conclusive 14-3. With that victory, the Gophers brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Adrian Rodriguez made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Florence got a massive performance out of Tanner Gammons, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Gammons has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Cameron Lorefice, who scored four runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Globe made easy work of Palo Verde on Wednesday and carried off a 12-2 win.
Jaeger Franco was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Globe's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 6-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Tavie Osorio, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Globe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Florence's victory bumped their record up to 13-6-2. As for Globe, their win ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 9-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Florence has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Globe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Florence skirted past Globe 6-4 in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Gophers repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
