Trenton is 0-1 against Whitewright since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Trenton Tigers will be playing at home against the Whitewright Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Trenton pushed their score all the way to 36 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 48-36 to Nocona. Trenton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Trenton's defeat came about despite a quality game from Micah Wommack, who rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 66 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Colton Gray, who gained 165 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Whitewright's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. The game between Whitewright and Tom Bean wasn't particularly close, with Whitewright falling 27-8. Whitewright was down 27-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kenneth York, who rushed for 130 yards.
Trenton now has a losing record at 3-4. Whitewright has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Trenton was dealt a bruising 35-7 defeat at the hands of Whitewright when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Trenton, Jackson Evans (who rushed for 148 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
