Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Shields Panthers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They had to suffer through a rough 85-47 loss at the hands of the Panthers. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Shields in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost five in a row.
Shields dropped their record down to 11-16 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Georgiana, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.
Shields does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Georgiana has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on February 7th. Pleasant Home will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Panthers are ranked 53rd).
