Baseball Game Preview: Kingsway Dragons vs. Paul VI Eagles

The Kingsway Dragons will face off against the Paul VI Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Kingsway is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.

Kingsway is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Gloucester County Tech with a sharp 17-3 victory on Thursday. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Killian McCaffrey looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Kingsway got a massive performance out of Kyle Shields, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave Shields a new career-high. Brayden Thorp was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Kingsway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.2.

Meanwhile, Paul VI lost 12-5 to Clearview on Saturday.

Kingsway pushed their record up to 9-2-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Paul VI, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
