While losing is never fun, San Jacinto Valley Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1321st, while Desert Christian Academy is ranked 651st).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Robert Edwards, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nahamani Hamala, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten assists.
Meanwhile, Temecula Prep lost to California Lutheran at home by a decisive 62-45 margin on Monday. Temecula Prep was down 49-29 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
San Jacinto Valley Academy's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-12. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Temecula Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 10-14.
San Jacinto Valley Academy couldn't quite finish off Temecula Prep in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 and fell 68-66. Can San Jacinto Valley Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
