Temecula Valley hasn't had much luck against Murrieta Valley recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Golden Bears are taking a road trip to challenge the Nighthawks at 3:30 p.m. Temecula Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Temecula Valley blew Lakeside out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Lakeside got their revenge. The Golden Bears fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Golden Bears have suffered since March 18th.
Jaycee Branson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Kiara Bryant was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Murrieta Valley entered their tilt with Temecula Valley on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Golden Bears. 15 seems to be a good number for the Nighthawks as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Charlotte Thayer tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Evun Seeforth was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiffany Karg, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Murrieta Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.
Temecula Valley's loss dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Murrieta Valley, their record is now 10-12.
Temecula Valley might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Murrieta Valley when the teams last played on Friday. Can the Golden Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
