The Sun Valley Spartans were the 59-39 winner over the Weddington Warriors when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Sun Valley fell to Weddington 52-46. Sun Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sun Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoe Bradley, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and five steals. Bradley has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylen Henry, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Sun Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weddington only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Weddington can attribute much of their success to Bailey Page, who scored 26 points. Caroline Clark was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Sun Valley's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-8. As for Weddington, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sun Valley will take on Porter Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Weddington, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Legion Collegiate Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Legion Collegiate Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
