Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Grove City's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Grove City won against Franklin last Monday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Eagles walked away with an 8-3 win over the Slippery Rock Rockets. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-10 back in April.

The team relied heavily on Remi Stillwagon, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. Autumn Cook was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Grove City hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Grove City has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Slippery Rock, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-11.

Looking ahead, Grove City will take on Jamestown at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Muskies have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Slippery Rock, they will be playing at home against Sharon at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
