The Stadium Tigers will take on the Kentridge Chargers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Stadium is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Stadium fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Mt. Rainier on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 7-5. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sarah Yi made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kentridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let Kennedy Catholic get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jozi Thompson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Genesis Miller was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Kenzie Coble was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Kentridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kennedy Catholic only posted an OBP of .105.
Kentridge's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Stadium, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Stadium hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Kentridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
